It depends if you require unlicenced or licenced radio equipment. Unlicenced equipment is pre-programmed to PMR446 frequencies, have fixed antennas and 0.5W power output. This type does not require a licence. Licenced equipment requires a licence from Ofcom, which we can assist you with.
In general the equipment is straight forward in that it has a battery that will need charging, an on/off control, a channel control, and a press to talk button. More complex systems will require further instruction, but if you just need a radio system to communicate, then yes it is simple to use.
The distance is determined by a range of factors. This can include indoor and outdoor use, line of sight and blocked by buildings, hills, trees, and weather can also affect coverage. If you are unsure what is required, our team can advise.
Generally a standard rechargeable battery will last 8-12 hours. Factors affecting this can be how often you transmit, features on the radio such as display, Bluetooth, GPS etc.
